Well, we did it! Day 1 completed. We successfully left Winnipeg and made it to the municipality of Portage La Prairie, just outside the little town of Elie. For all of our British Columbia supporters, Portage La Prairie is a beautiful little Manitoba town (okay, city!) on the banks of the Assiniboine River.
While it felt great to finally get out there and start out journey, we did have the occasional glitch: lack of air in Sachi's tire (somewhat essential) and Melanie's bike bag falling off, but nothing that we weren't prepared to handle!
We camped just outside Elie (or so we think) in the yard of a kind gentleman by the man of Derek, and met his trusty sidekick, Nikka the puppy.
Dinner was in the form of delicious lime chicken. Thank you Jesus!!
